“The music of The Maple Trail is so lush and warm that you’d swear you’re lazing by a stone fireplace… a gorgeous, endearing, tantalising taste of what’s to come.” Dom Alessio, triple j

“In his guise as The Maple Trail, the NSW Blue Mountains boy plays sun-dappled, folk tinged pop. Colouring his hazy vocals and sparkling guitar with dashes of trumpet and pedal steel.” Who Magazine

The Maple Trail touring February in: The Broken Stone Records Roadshow!

Dear friends, fans and bemused passers-by,

It is with great excitement that I write to you about the first full-band The Maple Trail shows for 2012, in the amazing Broken Stone Records Roadshow Tour!

This tour is special. It is designed as a bit of a working road-trip for all of the bands on the Broken Stone Records roster including The Maple Trail, Caitlin Park, Sister Jane and Magnetic Heads. We will take in regional centres in NSW, Victoria, Queensland and the ACT, and a couple of shows on familiar home grounds. We will be travelling together, sleeping together, playing music day in day out together in one month-long extravaganza. I personally am extremely excited to be presenting the songs from the new Maple Trail album Cable Mount Warning live. It is a journey I am very ready to take. The album will be available on CD from 9 February, and shortly thereafter a very limited vinyl version! Keep an eye on the website for further release and ordering details.

Making up the Maple Trail band for this tour, you are blessed to witness the talents of:

Paul Derricott on drums & percussion
Nicholas Hoorweg on double and electric bass
John Kaldor on the pedalsteel
Myself on my usual assortment of guitars and Irish things
and guests Caitlin Park, and members of Magnetic Heads and Sister Jane helping me out.

We will be playing not only theatre shows, but also impromptu acoustic sets in parks, on beaches, street corners, in cafes, record stores and hanging out the back of the Volkswagen tour bus making beautiful, twisted rock and folk music for anyone who passes by. We also have the talented Ella Bancroft on tour, who will be filming each step of the way, capturing the music and generally making her little movies to gel it all together into some kind of multimedia odyssey. It’s going to be one hell of a February. See the tour poster below - and keep an eye on the website and Facebook for updates of the acoustic sessions, impromptu events and tour diaries!
